The international artrelay
'wrap2008.net' (web relay art project) kicked off on 1st July 2008.
This project is an initiative of Dutch artist Johanna Haagsman.
Every two weeks, untill July 31 2009,
professional artists from all over the world, who subscribed to the
project and were selected, are invited to make one artwork, that
reacts on and matches the preceding one. All artforms are allowed,
provided that the resulting work can be shown on the Internet. The
long row of artworks that is currently developing through the
artrelay project, can be seen at the website www.wrap2008.net. On
the website there is also room for dialogue (for the artists as well
as the visitors). The relay refers to the 'cadavre exquis' method,
by which images or texts are collectively assembled, and is based on
the internet-principles of free communication, with no physical or
financial barriers.
During the past weeks 25 known, and
lesser-known, international working artists have committed to the
project and their numbers will expand throughout the course of the
year.
